Safety Net- Our policy on Child safety
The 3rd Greenock Webmaster would like to point out the following information regarding the Companies web site and the protection of children.
We have all heard the "horror" stories that are common place in the media, with regards to the safety of children and their protection from undesirables.
And while we realise that this is not a new problem, and that only the publishing media has changed over the years, it is important to raise these issues.
To this end, I would like to re-assure parents that our site follows guidelines set out for safe web site use by schools, and that in doing so will not label pictures of the boys with their names.
We will however use names, provided that no pictures accompany the item.
This provides a level of protection which is considered safe.
The official Government recommendations followed can be found on the Becta Web site.
All pictures will generally be of groups or sections, and again will not have names labeling them.
Where individuals are featured on the site and where there is also a need to identify them for special awards etc, we will seek parents permission before the picture is published on the site.
No personal details or contact details for the boys will be placed on this site, and email addresses contained on this site are all directed towards members of staff.
The guest book, ( which is currently off line for maintenance ) is open to general comment by web users, but again it is monitored by members of the company staff, and if unsuitable entries are made to the guest book, they will be removed and the perpetrator reported to the relevant authorities.
Finally, the content of this site is controlled by the Company staff, and is not open to unsolicited additions.
I thank you for your attention to these details, but it worth taking the time to point these safeguards out, and I fully believe that these rules will not detract from the web sites value or alter its' course to becoming an entertaining and informational asset to the company.
