1936 Inspection Programme
The 3rd Greenock held their Inspection in the Spring of 1936 just before the Olympics in Berlin, that saw Jesse Owens, wins four gold medals setting Olympic and world records, and upsetting German dictator Adolf Hitler.
Also in this year King Edward VIII abdicates, (stops being the King) and marries Wallace W. Simpson.
The BBC starts broadcasting a very basic television service in Great Britain, while abroad the Spanish Civil War begins.
1938 Inspection Programme
Inventions are the order of the day with both the Ball point pen and first Xerox (photocopy) being made.
HG Wells terrorizes the US, when a radio show broadcast starts a panic by proclaiming that Aliens have landed in New York. The broadcast was of Wells' story, "The War of the Worlds"
Superman makes his first appearance in late May inside Action Comics.
The shadow of conflict is getting closer when Adolf Hitler marches into Austria, and the Spanish Civil War enters it's third year.
