Coffee Morning 2006

Coffee Morning brews a success.

On Saturday 29th April, the Company held it's annual Coffee Morning in aid of Company funds in the hall of the Mount Kirk Church.

As in the past, the event was well attended by members of the church, parents and friends of the Company and was deemed a success after raising over £600. This money will be put towards the cost of Awards and our Annual Inspection.

The Staff of the Company would like to thank our helpers in the kitchen, ensuring that everyone was fed and watered and the Pancake team who broke records turning out pancakes for the hungry masses.

Thanks again to all customers who came for a bite to eat and a blether and who made this event a success.

Web site revamp goes live.

If Doctor Who can do it, who are we to deny that ReGeneration exists.

So despite the special effects department being on holiday, and having ran out of sticky back plastic anyway, we are now proud to unveil the new look site.

Continuing the Dr Who theme, and with the Tardis famous for missing a few finishing touches, we likewise are still in the process of moving several years worth of items and news to the new site.

This may take a little Time.

Time Lords would have helped us with this process, but have you ever tried finding one.?

If you are a Dr Who fan, then click on our picture to be taken to the Official BBC Dr Who Site.

Founders Day Parade October 2004

This years Founders Day parade took place on the 24th of October. The venue was the Ardgowan parish Church in Union Street, the home church for the 1st Greenock Company.
The Weather was against us from the start, and even with the boys all kitted up in rain gear, it was wisely decided to abandon the march to and from the Church.
It would have been stupidity to have the boys subjected to the very heavy constant rain.
The service itself was a lively affair, and was a mixture of modern hymns and high tech presentation that was sure to keep the assembled Battalion and church goers interested throughout the service.
The Silver Band also added to the ambience of the service with their usual vigour and musical presence. A fitting tribute to our Founder.

The Sponsored Games Night

On Halloween night, as the ghosts and the ghouls gathered in the streets to "trick or treat" or go out on "Galoshians", as we call it here in the West of Scotland, so the company section met up in the Mount Kirk church hall.
As part of our fund raising event, this annual activity sees the boys of the Company section spend the night playing games from dusk till dawn.
This years event was no exception, and with a very good turn out and armed with ample games, and it must be said, provisions, the section settled in for the "Hard Slog" of video games playing and watching suitable movies.
This event can always be seen as a marker for the entertainment world, as every year more advanced games, systems and methods of watching the movies are set up in the church hall.
NASA would be happy here!
The team were refreshed by the arrival of the food around 10:45pm, being first purchased from Luigi's Fish bar and a local Chinese restaurant.
The games played on in to the night, and with the arrival of dawn, "Mission Control" disbanded for another year.
A great night was had by all, and the company now eagerly waits to find out how much Sponsor money will result from the event.

New Web site begins trial runs.

By now you will have noticed that we have a web site of our own, ...I assume that you noticed this fact, especially considering you are currently reading from one of its web pages!?!
We will be adding to this, as we learn,.....er....I mean "Design" our first ever Company website.
But please remember that as with Company Magazines of the past, this web site belongs to the Company, and needs the input of the Company to reach the dizzy heights planned for it, so if you fancy being a contributor, be it reporting on Company events, providing articles, old photos, snippets of 3rd Greenock history or anything else that you feel may be of interest to the members, and friends of the Company, then please put pen to paper, digit to keyboard or photo to scanner and contact us.
We are ready to take that call!!!
