Coffee morning 2004

The 3rd Greenock's Coffee Morning gathers steam... and without a tea break too!.

Our annual Coffee Morning in aid of Company funds took place on the morning of Saturday 27th of March in the halls of the Mount Kirk. The threat of rain looked to dampen the attendance figures, but any concern that mere water would affect this, were quickly mopped up by a record attendance. The event was yet again extremely well supported and attended, with the two hours between 10am and Midday seeing a constant stream of people, old and young, turning up to savour the events delights.

Our Visitors tuck into the offerings.

On entering the church buildings, visitors were immediately enveloped with the mouth watering smell of freshly cooked pancakes. This set the visitors up for the host of other goodies to be found within the main hall.
Our thanks go to the "pancake team" who ensured a constant supply of pancakes for all our visitors and for providing the enticing aroma. A fantastic piece of marketing on their part. (Tesco, Asda take note.)

And enjoying a laugh!

While the pancake team busied away in the Session house, a similar well oiled and efficient team drove the Kitchen along.
Here the coffee and tea was prepared, the hot pancakes buttered and the dishes washed. And again this was continued, without a break, from before our official starting time until after the last guest had left.

Making the essential Coffee....

And washing the dishes....

An army of servers then ensured that all our visitors received their required fare, ensured that the tables were cleared and special requests were attended to. The cake and candy stall continued to supply more goodies throughout the morning, with nothing left by the end of the morning.

And moving that fast, that they appear as a blur. (Not dodgy camera work! Honest)

Along with the cake stall, our own boys ran our tuck shop stall which was aimed more at the younger visitors to the event. Below you can see two members of the team with the "Guess the number of Sweets in the Jar" prize. A similar prize draw for guessing the weight of a specially wrapped Easter egg was also up for grabs. Believe it or not, both of these items were won by the same young person, with an immediate call for him to put on several lottery tickets from several adults nearby, being the result of his excellent run of good luck.

How many sweets were there at the start ?!

The rest of the team shows off some of their proud takings.

When the last guest had left for home, the tables and hall cleared and the proceeds counted, the staff, boys and our excellent helpers were assembled to receive the excellent news that the Coffee morning had managed to raise just under £600, and we fully expect that final figure to clear that record high when all the "odds and Sods" are tallied up. As is the norm, our helpers were congratulated with a round of applause, a big Thank You and a box of chocolates for all their help. (And a kiss on the cheek from the Captain, if they were female, and not fast enough.!!)

3rd Greenock wishes to thank all our helpers, friends, parents and the people of the Mount Kirk for ensuring a very rewarding Coffee morning was the outcome of the event.
The proceeds will help towards our forthcoming Inspection and its' related costs, and without the excellent continued support, the Company would find it hard to operate at its' current level.
